Ingredients
  • CRUST AND TOPPING LAYERS
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups quick oatmeal
  • FROSTING LAYER
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Container: Jelly roll pan
Directions
COOK

CRUST
  • Cream together the margarine and brown sugar.
  • Add the eggs, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt, and oatmeal; mix well.
  • Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the mixture to use as a topping; then press the remainder into a jelly roll pan.
FROSTING LAYER
  • Melt the chocolate chips and blend with the milk, margarine, and vanilla.
  • Spread the frosting over the mixture in the pan.
TOPPING LAYER
  • Crumble the reserved crust mixture over the top of the frosting layer.
  • Bake at 350ºF for 20 minutes. Cool and slice into bars.
