Dilly Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup water - warm
  • 1 cup cottage cheese - creamed
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter - softened
  • 2 teaspoons dill seed dill seed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 egg - at room temperature
  • 2 1/4 bread flour - to 2 1/2 cups

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Heat cottage cheese in small bowl in microwave until lukewarm/room temperature, then place in large mixing bowl.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients except flour.
  • Then stir in yeast.
  • Add flour gradually, beating well after each addition.
  • Cover and let sit in warm place to rise (about 60 minutes).
  • Punch down and turn into well greased 8 x 8 glass casserole dish.
  • Let rise for another 45 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated 350° F oven for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown on top.
