For cake, mix together fruit, water, lemon juice, sugar and corn starch in pan on stove. Cook until thickened. Set aside and let cool slightly until rest is mixed up.
For filling, mix together margarine, eggs, sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, mace and vanilla. Put 1/2 of cake mixture in a greased 9x13 inch pan. Place filling on top. Put rest of cake mixture on top.
For crumb topping, mix together sugar, flour, margarine and pecans; sprinkle on top.
Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes.
NOTE: You can drizzle a powdered sugar frosting over top when cooled. Blueberry and peach are excellent choices for this recipe, but many kinds of fruit can be used.
