Overnight Breakfast Strata Recipe

  • 6 slices white bread, crust removed
  • 1 package breakfast sausage, cooked, crumbled and drained (1 lb pkg)
  • 1 package shredded cheddar cheese (8 ounce pkg)
  • 6 eggs, beaten (large)
  • 2 cups milk or half and half
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Cut bread into cubes and place in the bottom of a buttered (9 x 13-inch) baking dish.

Layer sausage and cheese over bread

Mix eggs with milk, salt and pepper. Carefully pour over sausage and cheese.

Cover and refrigerate overnight or let sit for 1 hour for the bread to absorb liquids.

Bake uncovered at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes or until puffed in the center. Cut into squares and serve hot.
