Ingredients
  • 2 cups Dakota Maid bread flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Dakota Maid whole wheat four
  • 1/3 cup cracked wheat
  • 1/3 cup flax-ground inch coffee grinder (optional)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 tablespoons shortening or butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or molasses
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
Directions
Mix and bake in a bread machine or put on manual on the bread machine and take out and put in bread pan. Let rise and bake in oven at 350° for 45 - 50 minutes. This makes a big loaf of bread.

Hint: I put all the dry ingredients including the butter (cut in smaller pieces) in a qt. size freezer bags. I put them in the freezer. When I want to make a loaf of bread I take a bag out of the freezer (an hour before or the night before I want to make the bread). Put the water, honey and molasses in the bread machine first; then the dry ingredients. You can use the same freezer bags over and over.
