Babka (Easter Bread) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 package active yeast
  • 1/4 cup very warm water
  • 1/4 cup soft margarine (1/2 stick)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup raisins
Directions
Scald milk. Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast in very warm water in large bowl. Mix and dissolve well. Add milk, margarine, sugar and eggs. Blend at low speed for 1 minute. Add flour gradually. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Cover and let rise in warm place, free from drafts until doubled (1 hour). Stir in raisins. Turn into greased and floured 2 quart tube pan. Let rise again 30 minutes. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
