Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

  • 1 1/2 cups italian style dried bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 1/3 cups freshly grated parmesan cheese or a parmesan, romano, asiagio mix
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 2 (16 oz.) blocks of mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks approximately 1/4 inch thick
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil

  • In a medium bowl, blend bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, and salt.
  • In a seperate bowl, beat the eggs until combined.
  • Dip the cheese sticks into the eggs to coat completely, allowing the excess to drip off back into the bowl.
  • Then, coat the cheese in the bread crumb mixture.
  • Pat it down to make sure it coats completely.
  • Place the sticks on a baking sheet.
  • Repeat the coating process with egg and bread crumbs a second time with each stick.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and freeze until frozen, approximately 2 hours but no longer than 2 days.
  • Heat oil in a large fry pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the cheese until golden brown, approximately one minute per side.
  • Transfer the sticks to a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cheese and serve with your favorite marinara sauce.
