Italian Gondola Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 package dry yeast (1/4 ounce pkg)
Directions
Add ingredients in order given into bread machine. Make a well in the flour and pour the yeast on top. Set bread machine for dough cycle, usually about 2 hours. Remove dough from bread machine after dough cycle is finished. Cut dough into 4 pieces for dinner size loaves and 8 pieces for sandwich buns. Shape in long "french bread" loaves and place on greased cookie sheets. Cover with towel and let rise again for 1 hour. Press knife slice across loaves 3 times and bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with butter. Bread has a sweet taste.
