Ingredients
  • apples
  • sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon or orange juice
Directions
1. Core and peel apples. Cut in slices, place in pot. Add a little water to prevent apples from sticking to bottom of pan and burning. Cook on low flame, medium temperature.

2. Add sugar to taste. Mac's and Romes's are sweet, need less sugar. Greenies and Grannie's are sour, need more sugar. As apples are cooking, add sugar as needed.

3. Add cinnamon as per taste and lemon juice.

4. When mixture starts to bubble, mash with potato masher. Sauce will be chunky. When all apples are soft, serve warm. If smoother consistency wanted place in blender, food processor or food mill.

Great side dish for poultry or pork!

Add variations to cooked apples: pared pears, peaches, strawberries or blueberries. Great way to use up fresh fruit!
