SYRUP COOKIES Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening (or 1 stick oleo and 1/2 cup Crisco)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 4 cups flour
Directions
Cream sugar and shortening, add egg and molasses, then add dry ingredients and milk. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonful on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Sprinkle sugar on top of each cookie. Bake 12-15 minutes at 325°F. Do not overbake.
