Tomato Soup 13 Recipe

  • 1 peck tomatoes
  • 6 onion (medium)
  • 1 bunch celery & leaves,cut inch small pieces
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
Cut up tomatoes, do not peel,add onions and celery. Cook all ingredients together until celery is soft. Put through a sieve. To the strained juice add seasonings and flour and butter together. Simmer mixture about 45 minutes together until thickened. Pour into hot sterilized jars to overflowing and seal at once or process 20 minutes in hot water bath or use pressure cooker.
