French Onion Soup 12 Recipe

Ingredients
  • 5 onions, thinly sliced (small)
  • 2 cans low sodium beef broth
  • 2 cans beef consommé
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 8 slices French bread, about inch thick
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere
Directions
Combine onions, broth, consommé' and soup mix in a slow cooker. Cook on high for 4 hours, or on low for 8 hours.

Ladle soup in serving bowls. Top with a slice of French bread. Sprinkle 2 tablespoon cheese over each bread slice. Put soup bowls under broiler until cheese is melted. Another way: Place the bread on a baking sheet and top with cheese; broil until cheese has melted, about 30 - 40 seconds, and set on top just before serving.
