Lasagna/Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 1 pound Ground round or hamburger
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 can crushed or diced tomatoes (28 ounce can)
  • 2 cans tomato paste (8 ounce cans)
  • 1 can or jar of tomato juice (large can)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
In a large pan, cook sausage, ground beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Drain and stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, pepper and 2 T. parsley. Relocate to a large crock pot and cook on low for 8-10 hours. May also simmer on the stove for several hours if preferred. Sprinkle with remaining parsley when finished cooking.
