Classic Salisbury Steak Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 can condensed beef consomme soup, divided (10.5 oz can)
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

In a bowl, combine 1/3 cup soup with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and black pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties.

In a large pan over medium heat, cook both sides of patties until golden brown, approximately 4 minutes per side.

In another bowl, mix together flour and the remaining soup until there are no lumps. Add in ketchup, water and Worcestershire sauce.

Pour sauce on top of the patties in the pan. Cover, and cook on medium-low for 20 minutes, stirring and turning occasionally.
