Grill or Bake for Dryer Summer Squash

Summer squash has high water content and may cause the dish you are preparing to become too watery. Grilling or baking summer squash will help produce a dryer squash but there is more you can do to remove some of the moisture before the squash is cooked. Draining is a process used to remove moisture from summer squash. See the draining squash steps below.
  • First cut the squash into slices and arranging them in a shallow dish.
  • Then sprinkling the slices with salt.
  • Allow them to sit for 20 to 30 minutes after salting.
  • After 20 to 30 minutes, rinse the slices under cold running water and pat dry.
After draining, cook according to your recipe.
