It is tempting to lift the lid when
cooking with a slow cooker to see how the recipe is progressing, especially when condensation builds up on the cover, making it hard to see through the cover. But lifting the lid increases the cooking time by about 20 minutes each time it is lifted. The lid should not be lifted unless instructed by the recipe. Try twisting the lid around while leaving it on the crock to make the condensation fall off. This may make it easier to see through the cover.
