Carving a pumpkin is a tradition in many households during the Halloween season. Follow the steps below for a fun and easy jack o' lantern.

To learn how to choose and prepare a pumpkin for carving - click here.

Then, click on one of the templates below to download a full size version that can be used for carving a pumpkin. Print out a copy of the full size template to use in the carving.

After you have cut around the template to remove all sides and edges, center the template on the prepared pumpkin to be carved and tape it into place.
Make sure that the template is taped securely so that it does not move during the tracing of the pattern.
The next step is to transfer the pattern onto the pumpkin that you will be carving. This can be done by using a small nail, golf tee, or any other object that will make a small hole through the paper and just into the skin of the pumpkin. Follow the lines to be cut out and make small holes as you go. The solid black lines are what will be carve out of the pumpkin.
When the tracing is finished, the pumpkin will have an outline of the pattern poked into the skin. These are the lines that will be cut to create the design.
With a small knife or pumpkin carving utensil, follow the hole punches to cut out the design on the pumpkin.
When all the lines have been cut out and you are finished carving the pumpkin, light the jack o' lantern with a candle or any other light source and enjoy!
