Ribe Rice
A variety of rice that was produced from cross breeding an Italian rice known as Rb rice, with long grain rice from the U.S. and short grain rice from Italy and Japan. Thus, Ribe Rice may be short, medium or long-grain in dimension. The short-grain variety is known as arborio rice that is grown in Italy. Ribe Rice is often considered to be a rustic or rough variety of rice containing a crystal-like, closely packed structure that is highly absorbent. These characteristics make it well suited for conversion into a parboiled rice. When used in recipes, Ribe Rice can be used nicely for making stuffed vegetables, rice salads, paellas, or pilaffs. It is a rice that is commonly seasoned with various spices, herbs and flavorings.
