Designed for a variety of different sized pans and baking sheets, the Silicone Baking Mat is made as a liner to keep baked goods from sticking to the surface of pans, cookie sheets and counters. The Silicone Baking Mat is similar in use to parchment paper, the sprinkling of flour or spraying cooking oils on surfaces to keep foods from sticking. Dough can be rolled out and kneaded on the mat, using it as a preparation surface to keep ingredients from sticking. Then, the Mat can also be aligned onto the surface of a baking pan or cookie sheet where fresh dough, batter, or sticky candy ingredients can be placed to be refrigerated or oven baked. The Silicone Mats are typically constructed of fiberglass and silicone materials that are safe to use in refrigerated conditions or hot oven temperatures. A range of - 40ºF (-40ºC) to 450ºF (232ºC) are common for the safe usage of many Baking Mats. Sizes for the mats vary with the manufacturer but generally they are available as a 16 by 24 inch, 11 by 17 inch, or 8-1/2 x 11 inch retangular size. Other shapes, which may not be as readily available, are available for use with circular or octagon-shaped pans.
