Potica Bread
With a swirled appearance when cut into slices, a Potica is a baked pastry that is popular in the country of Slovenia, adjacent to Italy and Austria. Made from a dough that is flattened into a thin layer, this pastry is covered with sweet ingredients such as dried fruits, cinnamon and walnuts, and then rolled into a log shape to be baked. In addition to the straight log shape, longer lengths of the dough may be formed into a half-circle or full circle shape. It is a traditional food of Slovenian people and is often served with meats such as ham or sausage for holidays and family gatherings.
