A flavoring or infusing process that is used to alter and enhance the natural flavor of a beverage. It begins by heating a beverage and then adding a spice or various mulling spices, which includes herbs, to the warm drink. Common spiced that are often used may include; citrus juices (orange, lemon, lime), nutmeg, sugar, and chocolate. Traditional herbs that may be used to season a beverage include; anise hyssop, epazote, lemon grass, marjoram, mint, sage, and rosemary. Common beverages that are flavored include beer, brandy, cider, and wine. Mulled wine is a common spiced wine that can be infused with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and other spices to enhance the flavor of this warm beverage.
