A meat product that has received injections of solutions such as water, salt and sodium phosphate to season the meat and to keep it from drying out. As meat producers increasingly raise leaner animals that contain significantly less fat, alternative processes are being developed to replace the flavor and moisture loss due to the reduction in fat on the animal, so enhancing the meat is one such process. Another process that is related is marinating is the injecting of meat with solutions at home that the consumer prepares to enhance flavors and add extra moisture. Injecting poultry, such as turkey with the use of a meat injector to add various flavors is a common practice often undertaken prior to cooking the turkey.
