A wine that is available dry or sweet, which has been fortified and had its flavor enhanced with herbs and spices. There is a white dry vermouth which is served as a before dinner drink and used in non-sweet cocktails. Sweet vermouth is a caramel color and is also served as a before dinner drink and it is used in mildly sweet cocktails. There is also less popular vermouth, which is white and mildly sweet.
