Tostada  
A tortilla that has been fried until it is crisp and somewhat brittle. A variety of ingredients can be placed on the tostada, such as shredded beef, poultry or fish, refried beans, shredded lettuce, bits of tomato, onion, and peppers. The tostada can then be topped with some type of shredded cheese with a dollop of sour cream or guacamole placed over the cheese. Tostadas or tostados as they are also known, are made in various sizes to be served as a meal if it is larger in size or for small appetizers to be served at parties.
