A mixture made with sugar, water, egg yolks, butter, cream from milk, lemon flavored concentrate, natural lemon flavors, and pectin that is thickened by slowly cooking the ingredients in a double boiler. The result is a creamy custard-like, spreadable sauce that is often a good complement on toast, breads, biscuits, crackers, or scones. It makes a delicious topping for desserts and is a nice addition to a variety of sweet or savory dishes such as cheesecakes, soufflés, or other sweet breads and pastries. Curd is generally available in a variety of fruit flavors such as lemon, lime, strawberry, orange, and raspberry.
