A hard-boiled egg in which the yolk is removed and blended with other ingredients such as mayonnaise, mustard, and seasonings. After cooking hard-cooked eggs, the shells are removed, the egg white is halved, and the yolks are removed. The yolks are then mixed and blended with mayonnaise and other ingredients if desired. The "whipped" mixture is carefully placed back into the vacant opening in the halved egg white to be served as a snack or side dish for a meal. Deviled eggs may also be referred to as stuffed eggs.
