Coleslaw
A salad prepared with shredded, finely sliced or square bits of cabbage that is most often a white cabbage. The cabbage may be combined with other finely sliced vegetables such as onions and carrots, and then dressed with a blend of herbs and spices mixed in a mayonnaise sauce, a vinegar-based sauce or a mustard sauce. After it is prepared, the Coleslaw is allowed to marinate in the sauce for at least several hours to enhance the flavor of this prepared salad.

Coleslaw may be referred to as cole slaw or cold slaw or simply slaw, all of which are common terms for the salad. Cold slaw however, is an older term that was most often used during the early 1800's in England. When served, this cabbage salad is provided as a side dish for fish, poultry, hamburgers, and other foods. It is used as a topping for hamburgers such as chimichurri burger or slaw burger recipes.
