Amish Sugar Cookies - Recipe

Directions
  • In a large bowl, combine the sugars, eggs, margarine, and oil.
  • Sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Add this to the creamed mixture.
  • Add the vanilla and almond extracts and mix well.
  • Refrigerate the dough 1 hour or overnight.
  • After the dough has chilled, roll it into one-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Flatten with the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in sugar. (Use a glass that has a design on the bottom to make the cookies more decorative.)
  • Bake at 350ºF for 12 - 15 minutes.
  • Cool on wire racks.
