| | Directions | | Boil the raisins and water for 5 minutes--there should be 1/2 C. liquid left. Add baking soda to raisin mixture and cool. Mix shortening, salt and spices and gradually add sugar, creaming well. Add eggs and vanilla to raisin mixture, then add flour sifted with the baking powder, mix well. Stir in nuts and chill dough until stiff. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet and bake in 400 oven for 10-12 minutes. |
