 | | Directions | | Select any variety of cooking apple desired or combine several varieties.
Instead of peeling apples, cut into quarter sections with the peel still attached. Keeping the peel on the apple adds to the nutritional value of the food. Using a knife, remove the core, stem, and seeds.
Add 1/2 to 1 cup of water to a saucepan and place on stovetop burner. Add apples and bring water and apples to a boil. Reduce heat after reaching a boil and continue cooking until apples are soft.
Add a teaspoon of vanilla and a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon while apples are still cooking.
Add 1/2 cup of sugar, adding more or less to achieve desired taste and flavor.
Use an immersion blender and puree apples with peels attached until mixture is smooth. Add more water if consistency is too thick and season if desired with more cinnamon.
Note: Some apples are juicier than others, so start with the least amount of water and check the consistency. Also, some apples are sweeter than others so add a small amount of sugar first and then sweeten to the desired taste. |
