 | | Directions | | If fresh shrimp are to be served, devein and wash shrimp. Approximately 16 ounces (1 pound) of fresh large shrimp will be required which should provide approximately 24 to 30 shrimp.
If frozen shrimp are to be served, thaw and rinse shrimp under cold water.
Preheat oven on broil setting.
Lightly spray or grease broiling pan.
Cut each slice of bacon in half. Wrap a cut slice of bacon around each shrimp. To hold bacon in place, insert a toothpick through the wrapped bacon and shrimp.
When all shrimp are wrapped with bacon, place each one evenly spaced on the broiling pan. Place pan in oven approximately 3 inches below the top broiling element. Broil on one side for approximately 5 minutes. Remove from oven and turn each wrapped shrimp over. Return to oven and continue broiling for an additional 5 minutes until bacon is crisp and shrimp become bright orange in color or firm to the touch.
During final 5 minutes of broiling, watch appetizers to prevent burning or becoming too done. Be cautious not to overcook which will make shrimp too firm in texture.
Serve warm and if desired, provide a dipping such such as shrimp cocktail. |
