New York Strip with Zesty Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

- BARBECUE SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons whiskey
- 1 tablespoon steak sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic - chopped
- 1 pinch each of salt and pepper
- NEW YORK STRIPS:
- 4 New York Strip steaks - cut one inch thick
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary - finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper

Zesty sauce gives these steaks great flavor.
 
Directions
BARBECUE SAUCE:

  • Whisk all of the sauce ingredients together in a saucepan with 1/2 cup of water.
  • Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
NEW

YORK STRIPS:

  • Trim off any excess fat from the steaks as desired.
  • Let the steaks stand at room temperature for 20 minutes before grilling.
  • Chop the
    garlic.
  • Sprinkle kosher salt onto the garlic. With the flat side of a knife blade, crush the garlic
    and salt together to create a paste.
  • Mix this paste in a small bowl with the oil, rosemary and pepper.
  • Rub this mixture onto both sides of the steaks.
  • Heat the grill to medium.
  • Grill for 6 minutes, turning once, for medium rare. For medium, grill for 8 minutes.
  • Serve hot off the grill with barbecue sauce.
