Ingredients - 2 cups granulated sugar - 1 1/2 cups shortening - 2 eggs - 1/2 cup molasses - 2 teaspoons cloves - 1 teaspoon ginger - 4 teaspoons baking soda - 4 cups all purpose flour - 1 teaspoon salt - 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for dipping) A crisp, textured cookie with a delicious ginger flavor. Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, blend
together sugar and shortening until creamy and light yellow in color. Add eggs, blend well. Stir in molasses. Add all dry ingredients. Dough will be stiff.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls and dip into granulated sugar. Place dough balls (sugar side up) on prepared cookie sheet, 2" apart.
