- 2 egg whites Cinnamon and nutmeg add a special flavor to these Belgian waffles. Directions
- Combine the water and 2 tsp. of sugar in a large bowl. Add the yeast and stir until
dissolved. Let mixture stand for 5 minutes before adding other ingredients. Then, add the rest of the ingredients, except for the egg whites. Mix with an electric mixer until batter is smooth.
Cover the batter and allow it to rest in a warm location for approximately a half hour.
After the batter sits, beat the egg whites until stiff and then carefully fold into the batter. Pour batter into a medium hot waffle iron and bake for 4 to 5 minutes. Waffles should be golden brown in color.
Spread with butter, if desired, and top with fresh fruit or fruit sauce and whipped cream. Also delicious topped with syrup.
