Sloppy Joes Recipe

Easy ground beef recipe - especially for families on the run.
Directions
  • In a skillet, over medium heat, add onions, celery, green pepper and garlic. Crumble the ground beef on top of the vegetable mixture.
  • When ground meat is brown and vegetables are tender, drain mixture in a colander. Return mixture to skillet.
  • In a separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients together and then combine with meat mixture. Mix well.
  • Continue to simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds extra lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 2 celery ribs with leaves, chopped
- 1/2 large green pepper, chopped
- 2 cups crushed tomatoes (canned)
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons steak sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper, optional
black pepper to taste
