The science of the daily dietary requirements necessary for a person to maintain proper health and development. The science of nutrition considers and offers guidance on the the proper calories, proteins, fats, fiber, carbohydrates, water, minerals, and vitamins necessary daily to maintain good health. A guide showing the recommended daily food allowance, represented in a graphical manner, is provided by the USDA and referred to as the Food Pyramid.
