Small in size, this type of heat sensing utensil is used to measure the temperature of individual cuts of meats or smaller cuts that can be checked using smaller sensors. The Button Thermometer is a common temperature gauge for steaks, so the chef can check each steak as it is being prepared to assure that the individual cuts that may range from rare to well done are cooked to perfection. Small in size and constructed of stainless steel, the Button Thermometer may contain a digital readout or circular faced scale readout showing doneness or farenheit and centigrade degrees. Often referred to as a Steak Button Thermometer the dial may show only Rare, Medium and Well as the doneness reading or the words may be displayed with related temperatures encased in sealed glass. This type of thermometer is commonly used for grilling or oven baking.
