A label or identifier for food products that has been supplemented with live active cultures resulting in a product that has not been pasteurized following the fermentation process. A program that enables a food producer to label their products with the "Live and Active Culture" seal was initiated to insure that the designated food product met the standards required by the food industry and that the products or products labeled with the seal had been tested by independent laboratories to certify the standards had been met. Various types of yogurt are foods that will often be certified with the Live Active Culture seal.
