A round or oval-shaped baking dish with a lid that is used to cook a wide variety of ingredients that are made into the food dish often referred to as a casserole. The casserole pot is typically made with a base and sides that are the same thickness, allowing the construction of the pot to distribute heat evenly throughout the container. Most often the pot will have sides that are high and have two half-round handles opposite each other. Common sizes range from 5 to 8 quarts.
