An alcoholic beverage made with a cognac base that is flavored with the caraway seeds, providing a distinctively sweet flavor with a slightly bitter, nutty taste. This liqueur is used as a flavoring ingredient in dessert recipes or is served as an after dinner drink. Depending on the manufacturer, the alcohol content ranges from 50 to 110 proof in liqueurs. Typical distillers providing caraway flavored liqueurs include the producers of Kümmel.
