A small cake that is flat on top with a round outside edge, which is made from crab meat and other ingredients. It is served as a main dish. To make a crab cake, small pieces of crab meat are combined with breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onions, and seasonings. Other ingredients are often added, such as red or green peppers, to enhance the flavors of the crab cakes. After being made, the cakes are then sautéed, baked or grilled and served.
