A descriptor for wines that have become tasteless, most often due to storage for excessive periods of time in a large vessel. As air is allowed to reach the liquid, the wine begins to deteriorate, resulting in a loss of quality. Thus, the wine becomes "flat" and lacks the aroma and flavor desired for the beverage.
