A kitchen utensil that is used to measure the doneness of various foods. The prongs of the fork are inserted into the food in order to display a temperature reading. The typical fork thermometer provides an instant-read display that can be easily viewed as the prongs are inserted into meat or roasts. Some models also include a "Hold" button on the fork handle to allow for the fork to be removed and the temperature to be read away from the heat of an oven or grill.
