A cow's milk cheese, Danish in origin that is made from partially skimmed milk. Light yellow in color Esrom or Danish Port-Salut as it is also known, has a mild, sweet flavor and a large aroma. Semisoft in texture, this cheese has small random holes throughout and the texture that is somewhat elastic in consistency. It is suitable as a table cheese, as an flavorful addition to sandwiches or as a good melting cheese. Depending on the age, Esrom also has a soft consistency that allows it to be spreadable for crackers or fruit.
