White rice refers to many different types of rice that are basically white in color but may be any short to long grain variety. White rice may also be referred to as regular or milled rice, which is rice that has been hulled and the bran layers and germ have been removed. White rice varieties are usually tender and fluffy when cooked and they are used as a side dish or as an ingredient for a wide variety of main dishes.
