Screw Pine

Long narrow, green leaves that grow by the sea in Asia and Australia. The rich green leaves that have a sweet floral flavor and are used most frequently in puddings, rice dishes and curries. They deep green color of the leaves makes them a good natural food coloring. This spice is always available dried in Asian markets, but they are not always available fresh. They are also known as "pandanus."
