A potato cake that combines finely chopped or grated potatoes and onions, which are flattened and then browned on one or both sides before serving. This use of potatoes is similar to a potato cake from Switzerland known as rösti. When frying Hash Browns, sprinkle a little paprika over the potatoes in order to give them a golden brown coloring.
