A hearty Italian seafood stew that is generally created from the bits of fish remaining after the daily catches are sent to market. Cioppino Stew is made with a thick stew base that consists of the juices produced from simmering vegetables and fish together. The fish and vegetable mixture is then strained so it can be blended with flour and seasonings in order to thicken and add flavor to the base ingredients. Combinations of seafood (lobster, shrimp, scallops) and fish (cod and any other varieties desired) are then added to the base for a hearty mixture of broth, seafood, and vegetables such as tomatoes, celery and onions.
