A food topping that is made from pork meat and produced as small chips, pieces, or granular bits of bacon. Bacon bits may also be a soy-based product having a crispy textured bacon appearance and flavor. In addition to the bacon flavor, the bits are manufactured in a variety of other flavors, such as beef, chicken, pepperoni, taco and ham, which are used to complement snacks, salads, soups, sauces, potato dishes, pizzas, and other similar foods.

When using bacon bits, the following measures will serve as approximates for conversion of bits to bacon strips:

1 tablespoon or 7 grams = 1 1/2 strips of bacon

3/4 cup of loose bits (unpacked) = 1 pound of bacon

3 oz = 1 1/2 pounds of bacon
