A traditional Swedish, Finnish or Norwegian bread made from a dough with rye flour or combinations of flours such as wheat, barley, and potato and leavened with leavening agents. Available in round, rectangular or triangular shapes, flatbreads such as Knäckebrot are common types served in Scandanavian homes. Very thin and crispy-textured, like a cracker, flatbreads are often served as an appetizer with gjetost cheese or with soups, salads, and main dishes. This type of flatbread may also be referred to as a crispbread.

Add some pan-Asian sizzle to your backyard barbecue. This recipe borrows the naan flatbread from Indian cuisine and the red chili sauce from Thai cuisine and puts them together on the grill for a modern day pizza.
Tender roasted vegetables and the unique sweetness of balsamic vinegar provide wonderful flavor to this terrific flatbread – a tasty alternative to pizza.
